Police have identified the second suspect arrested after a Monday night attempted robbery ended in the shooting death of a Longview teen.

Xavier Ward, 20, of Longview has been charged with aggravated robbery.

Police say Noah Wood, 17, broke into an apartment Monday night and was fatally shot when the apartment resident defended himself with a rifle.

Police spokeswoman Debra Stiles said investigators are still trying to piece together the details and determine what role Ward played in the robbery. He is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Officers responded to the shooting about 10 p.m. Monday at Towne Oaks North apartments in the 2600 block of North Eastman Road.

Wood’s most recent address did not indicate he lived in the apartment or the apartment complex, said police spokeswoman Debra Stiles.
