UPDATE (2:40pm): Longview Police have identified the suspected shooter and arsonist from Tuesday night's incident at Village South Apartment complex.

The suspected shooter is Roger Hall, 24, of Longview.

Police believe Hall shot someone in the laundry room of the complex, and then ran into an apartment and shot two other people.

Hall and one of the victims in the apartment fought over the handgun. The victim was finally able to wrestle the gun away.

Hall then pulled out a knife and another fight ensued.

The victim was able to wrestle the knife away and stabbed Hall several times before police arrived.

All four people were taken to a local hospital.

The suspect and one of the victims remain in the hospital at this time. The case remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY (9:30 am): Longview Police tell KETK, the man suspected of setting fire to the laundry room of a Longview apartment complex earlier this week is believed to be the same person who shot three people shortly afterwards.

The fire was set at the Village South apartment complex on Tuesday night.

Fire officials got the call around the same time as a reported shooting in the same area of the complex.

On Wednesday, fire and police officials were trying to determine if the fire and the shooting were connected.

After investigating, authorities now tell KETK that the suspected arsonist allegedly set the fire, but was caught by someone who had come down the stairs to check on the fire alarm.

The arsonist then reportedly shot the witness, and ran into a random nearby apartment.

He then shot two additional people who were inside the apartment.

After a struggle, the arsonist/shooter was stabbed.

All four people were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have not released the extent of their injuries.

The suspected arsonist and shooter's name has not yet been released to the public, but that information is expected later in the day.

It is not the gun, it is the person behind the gun. Just like it is not the car that gets blamed when someone decides to drink and get behind the wheel.
Child abuse is a huge problem. The United States has the worst record in the industrialized nation – losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths. This does not count the number of children abused every second.

Something else is going on. That is just to weird a happening.

With 300,000,000 guns owned by 330,000,000 Americans, these shootings are becoming a ho-hum issue to most gun worshipers...but folks, 89 +/- people die by gun violence each and every day in this country...looked down on with scorn by the world, we're fast becoming the gun capital/shoot-out mecca of the universe...great for gun manufacturers, the NRA, bullet suppliers...but not so great for those who die in shoot-outs or caught in crossfire as "collateral damage." Sensible gun control? YES!!
