UPDATE (3:37 p.m.): The name of the man who drowned during a fishing outing with his son has been released. 

Timothy Matthew Carson, 36, of Gladewater died Saturday evening while swimming while fishing with his son.


ORIGINAL: A Gladewater man drowned in Prairie Creek while taking a swim during a fishing outing with his son, officials said Sunday.

The drowning occurred Saturday evening near Prairie Creek Bridge on Texas 135.

Gregg County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson said the two decided to take a swim while fishing on the creek Saturday evening. The father went under and failed to surface.

Was he drinking?

I mean that is pretty muddy water and why would anyone swim in THAT?
