Smith County — UPDATE:

John Purdue has been found and he is safe.

The Smith County Sherrif's office tells KETK, he was found in Denton County, Sanger, Texas at a convencience store.

The family has been notified and are very relieved.

The Smith County Sheriff's office is asking for your help to find an elderly man with dementia, who took off in a car earlier today.

Police believe 79-year-old John Purdue is driving a dark grey 2003 GMC Yukon.

He was last seen at noon at his residence located off FM 2661, south of Highway 31 in Smith County.
