UPDATE:  The person killed in Monday's fiery crash on Interstate 20 has been identified.

Vickey Patterson, 44, of Mississippi, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Longview Police. She was a passenger in the truck.

The driver of the truck, Douglas Spencer, 48, was taken to a Longview hospital and later released.

According to authorities, the 18-wheeler had a mechanical problem and ran off the road. It crashed into the MLK overpass pillars and guardrail. The vehicle caught fire upon impact.

The interstate was closed in the area for several hours, but reopened late Monday afternoon.

Alcohol was not a factor, and no charges are expected to be filed in the accident.

UPDATE: Officials with the Department of Transportation tell KETK that one westbound lane of the interstate is now open following Monday morning's fatal wreck near Longview.

Authorities hope to have all lanes open again by rush hour.

The MLK overpass will remain closed.

UPDATE: The driver of the truck has been released from a local hospital.

Interstate 20 westbound is still closed.

Haz-Mat crews are on scene cleaning up at this time.

Longview Police tell KETK the truck, the driver and passenger are from Mississippi.

No names have been released at this time.
