Smith County — Smith County law enforcement officials have taken one person into custody after a foot chase along Old New Harmony Road.

The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old DeWayne Paul Geraldon. He was pulled over for a drug charge, but took off on foot into a wooded area, then through a pasture.

K-9 units were called to the scene to assist in his capture, which took place in a nearby field.

Officials found a large knife, rifle and syringes in his car.

Smith County Sheriff's deputies, along with a Smith County constable, are chasing a man along Old New Harmony Road.

The foot chase has been ongoing for about half an hour.
