UPDATE (3:53pm): Fire officials tell KETK crews on scene that the fire began a little after 3:00pm.

There were two people inside the house when the fire broke out.

An elderly man was killed in the blaze, and a younger man suffered burns on his hands and was taken to a local hospital.

The fire has been extinguished, but crews are still putting out hot spots.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
 


ORIGINAL STORY: An elderly man is dead following a fire at a house in Longview on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities with the Longview Fire Department.

Firefighters are still on scene of the fire on the 500 block of Idylwood Dr. in Longview.

There's no word yet on what other injuries may be involved or how the fire started.

KETK has a crew on scene and will provide more information as soon as it comes in.
