UPDATE: One man taken to hospital during hay field fire

SMITH COUNTY — Smith County fire officials tell KETK crews on the scene, that the hay field fire was started when a hired hand began welding on a broken tractor.
Once the field caught fire, the man went to get another tractor to contain it, but got burned in the process.
He was transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
KETK will continue to update this story as more details emerge.
Smith County fire officials confirm there are about 2-3 acres of hay on fire on County Rd. 353 in Smith County.
There are reports of up to 9 hay bales on fire.
KETK has a crew on the way, and will provide more details as they become available.
