Family awarded large settlement

OVERTON - A Rusk County jury has determined A $7 million settlement will be paid by the George family, the owners of the dogs.

Pam Ford was young Justin's aunt.  She doesn't think Justin's mother Serenia will ever see any of the $7 million.  But the money doesn't matter to them anyway.

"Thats not what this family was after.  It was to let people know that if they have these types of dogs, they have to be responsible for them and they have to contain them properly," Ford said.

Shortly after Justin's death, family and classmates created a makeshift memorial where the attack happened.

However, controversy surrounded the memorial, because the George family demanded the memorial be removed from their property.

Pam Ford says that the most important thing to her family is raising awareness about the dangers of Pit Bulls

"It was heartbreaking, it's horrifying, it...shouldn't happen to anybody.  Not ever again," Ford said.

While there may never truly be "Justice for Justin," they hope there will be justice for other innocent kids.
