SMITH COUNTY--  County roads have a weight limit of 30,000 pounds.  Any vehicle over that weight needs a permit.  The state offers permits for $400, and Smith County currently offers permits for free.

However, Commissioners voted this morning to charge a fee for county permits.  They will use that money to go into the weight and license program, which helps the county know who is operating legally.

We spoke with two businessmen this morning who say the fee is like another tax to their business.

We'll have more on that story tonight at 6:00.
