Lindale — According to Lindale Fire Marshal Charles West, three dogs and two cats were killed by the fire. Although fire crews arrived on the scene of the fire quickly, they were unable to save the animals.

The fire broke out around 11:00 am Monday. It was contained to one bedroom, but the home was severly damaged by smoke and heat.

No one was at home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Smith County fire officials confirm crews are responding to a structure fire in the Lindale area.

The Lindale Fire Department is headed to the scene on the 15,000 block of South Street.
