The Jacksonville Police Department just informed KETK that Kendall Lucas is now behind bars.

He was caught early Thursday morning, shortly after midnight, at the Jacksonville Square Apartments in Jacksonville.

Police say, he didn't put up a struggle.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Jacksonville Police are looking for a man they believe to be responsible for several aggravated robberies in the city.

The man they are looking for is Kendall Lucas, 25, who was already wanted on a parole violation for a previous burglary charge.

The most recent string of robberies began on October 14th.

That's when the man officials believe to be Lucas robbed CJ's Quick Stop at gunpoint. The robber was described as a black man about 5'6'' tall, about 180lbs, with a jacket.

Only a few days later, J&J Food Mart was also hit in the same manner, by a man with a similar description.

The very next day, October 23rd, J&J Food Mart was hit again by the same man.

On Tuesday, November 7th, investigators were able to positively link Lucas to the crimes.

They went to a location in eastern Jacksonville to arrest him for the parole violation warrant, but officers believe Lucas had already been tipped off.

When they arrived, Lucas had just left the home on foot.

Authorities pursued Lucas through the yard of a nearby nursing home, and through a church parking lot.

Lucas eventually led the officers across Loop 456 and into a wooded area behind the old Travis Clinic building, where he was lost in the heavy underbrush.

A DPS helicopter and K9 units were called in to assist in the search.

The dogs were able to locate a trail, but lost it about two and a half hours later, around 10:00pm.

Authorities called off the search, and Lucas remains a wanted man.

Officials believe that he is still in the Jacksonville area, because he has family nearby. Lucas is an alleged member of the "Bloods" criminal street gang in Jacksonville.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who believes they know where he is should contact the Jacksonville Police Department or Crimestoppers immediately at 903-586-2546.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of Lucas.

Lucas is charged with his original parole violation, which is a felony, as well as at least three first degree felony charges for aggravated robbery.

He may also be charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Anyone who assists Lucas will also face criminal charges.

The FBI is investigating the case as well, and intend to prosecute Lucas federally.

A string of robberies in Cherokee county leads to a man hunt in the Loop 456 and Highway 79 area.

Jacksonville police tell KETK several businesses were robbed at gunpoint.

Cherokee County DPS, Cherokee County Sheriff, and Jacksonville Police are all involved in the search.

DPS helicopters were helping with the search, but they have been called off.

No arrests have been made.

We will update this story as more informaton becomes available.
