UPDATE: Texas dropping plan to increase daycare workers
TEXAS-- The Department of Family and Protective Services recommended to a council that the state lower the number of children that each worker at a day care center be allowed to supervise.
They left the recommendation open for public comment.
Department spokesman Patrick Crimmins tells us that numerous day care owners complained that if it passed, they would have to hire more workers, increasing costs for parents. Crimmins says day care costs are already large enough.
The recommendation has been retracted.
