The Smith County Sheriff's office tells KETK the body of Shannon Michelle Johnson was found in Tyler Friday night.  Johnson was found in her car by a Tyler Police Dept. Patrolman  behind the Good Samaritan building on Beckham Street in Tyler. They say it appears Johnson had a self-inflicted gun wound.  

The Smith County Sheriff's office will be handling the investigation.  We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Officials with the Smith County Sheriff's Office are looking for Shannon Michelle Johnson, 38 from Smith County.

Johnson was reported missing Thursday evening around 7:30 PM.

She lives in a residence between Troup and Whitehouse. 

They say Johnson should be driving a black 2006 GMC Envoy (mid size SUV), displaying Texas license plate number CY6X154.

The vehicle will have a yellow Tyler Junior College sticker on the left side of the rear window.

There will be a heart pendant on the rearview mirror. 

They tell KETK,  Johnson was in possession of a 9MM Ruger Model P85 Semi-automatic pistol.

So tragic. I wish she could have held on just a little bit longer and seen that there is another day and that this too shall pass. Nothing is ever so bad that you should take your own life. My heart hurts for the pain she must have been enduring to feel this was her only way out. Prayers for her loved ones.
