UPDATE: Toddler attacked by pit bull released from hospital

A Gilmer toddler was flown to Dallas Children's Hospital on Wednesday evening after authorities said she was attacked by a pit bull. The Longview News-Journal reports today the child has been released from the hospital.

Upshur County Sheriff's Office spokesman Freddie Fitzgerald said deputies were dispatched to Ironwood Road around 4 p.m. Wednesday in connection with a toddler who had been injured by a pit bull.

Fitzgerald said the 2-year-old, whose name is being withheld by authorities, was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Gilmer, then flown to Dallas Children's Hospital.

He said the dog was seized from the Western Upshur County residence and taken to an area veterinary clinic to be quarantined. The animal had not been put down.

Put the owners in jail! If you are no more responsable than that, then you must also be a parent who does not watch you kidd either.Hope they don't have a swimming pool in the back yard.
