Tyler Police are on the scene of a bank robbery at the Compass Bank on the 6900 block of South Broadway in Tyler.

Police received the alert just after 3:00 pm on Thursday, when an employee triggered the alarm.

Employees say that the robber had a gun that he showed them, but did not point at the employees.

There were no customers in the bank at the time, and there were no injuries.

Police say they are looking for a white man with sandy blond hair, armed with handgun he was carrying in his shorts. They describe him as about 5'10'' and 180 pounds, wearing a basketball jersey and blue gym shorts.

Officials believe that the robber may be connected to the robbery of the Altra Federal Credit Union on Troup Highway in Tyler back in August of 2011.

Police say there were no injuries.

This is the second time this particular bank has been robbed in the past two years. Click here for KETK's report on the first robbery.
