A Texas man who may be responsible for more than half a dozen Dallas-area bank holdups has been arrested
in Jackson County, Miss.

Forty-four-year-old Steven Ray Milam had been sought by Richardson, Texas, police after a Saturday morning incident in which a police officer who responded to a robbery call was fired on Jackson County, Miss., Sheriff Mike Byrd said Milam was spotted in a red BMW on Interstate 10 headed west on Tuesday but refused to stop for lawmen. After the interstate was blocked off, Byrd says he shot out one of the tires and Milam was arrested when the car came to a stop.

A Tyler man and local casket salesman appears to be at the center of a Federal investigation into several North Texas bank robberies -- they call him the 'Handsome Guy' bandit!

And he uses sophisticated Hollywood make-up style masks to cover his face that authorities say are around $800 a pop.

Today authorities searched the home of 44-year-old Steven Ray Milam in the 700 block of Hampton Hill drive right here in Tyler.

KETK's sister station, KXAS reports that Richardson Police have identified Milam as the "Handsome Guy Bandit" who has robbed seven banks...including one last week in Richardson.

In that incident, the suspect shot several times at police officers before escaping.

They recovered his detailed mask, clothes and gun.

Today authorities were hoping the search of Milam's home would turn up clues to his whereabouts.

He's considered to be armed and dangerous.

And of course, KETK will keep an eye on this story for you.
