UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Catarino Perez, 56, of Diboll. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the logging truck, Jerome Bryant, 37, was not injured.

The wreck happened at around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 59 and FM 2782.

At this time, no charges have been filed, however, the crash is still under investigation.

Nacogdoches County DPS confirm to KETK that one person has died after a collision with a logging truck on Highway 59 early this morning.

DPS says the logging truck was pulling onto Highway 59 at FM 2782 -- about halfway between Lufkin and Nacogdoches -- when it was struck on its side by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

No names have been released. The highway is still open, but traffic is slow and DPS urges drivers to use Highway 7 as an alternate route until the wreck is cleared.
