wood county — Wood County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jerry GaskIll, who owns the house, tells KETK, he arrived at home to the sound of his smoke alarms going off.

He went to check his breaker and saw smoke.

After attempting to put it out with a fire extinguisher and water hose, Gaskell says the smoke continued to get heavier and forced him out of the house.

At this time, officials are not certain of the cause of the fire.

Officials tell KETK the homeowner has been identified as Precinct 2 County Commissioner Jerry GaskIll.

Gaskell's home was destroyed by the fire.

Multiple fire departments are battling a fire in Wood County northwest of Mineola.
