Upshur County candlelight vigil commemorates lives lost to domestic violence
Gilmer — The September fatal shooting of an Upshur County woman was at the forefront of a Tuesday candlelight vigil to honor victims of domestic violence.
About 70 people gathered on the lawn of the Upshur County courthouse for the Women’s Center of East Texas event to remember the 114 women who were murdered by their partners this past year in Texas.
“We chose to hold this year’s event in Upshur County because of the recent death of Cheyenne Green,” said Shannon Trest, executive director of the center.
