The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is upgrading its computer equipment in the two Upshur County tax offices — one of which is in Gladewater — to help speed motor vehicle transactions, Tax-Assessor Collector Sherron Laminack said Tuesday.

“We’re pleased about receiving this new equipment to better serve our customers,” Laminack said. “Of course anyone who has gone through a computer switch at their workplace knows you have to take out the old to install the new, and that means we are anticipating some down time when we will not be able to process motor vehicle transactions.”
