One man was pronounced dead following an early morning accident on US 59 S Thursday, June 28, 2012.

Kevin James Mote, 39, of Wells, TX, was traveling northbound on US 59 in a 2001 Mitsubishi. Around 5:30 a.m., Mote ran into the back of the tractor trailer driven by a DeBerry resident who was also traveling north just north of County Road 4251. Mote was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Lora Taylor. According to authorities, Mote was not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident was investigated by DPS Trooper Chaney Howeth. Other responding agencies included Panola County Sheriff’s Office, Woods VFD and EMS personnel.
