UT Health Northeast names new associate vice president of Institutional Advancement
Tyler, Texas (UT Health Northeast) — Derrith Bondurant has joined UT Health Northeast as its new associate vice president of Institutional Advancement and chief development officer.
She comes to UT Health from The University of Texas at Tyler, where she was director of Alumni Relations. Ms. Bondurant also has held positions as development officer for the College of Arts and Sciences, development officer for the College of Business and Technology, and director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
“Ms. Bondurant brings great energy, experience, and knowledge to our fundraising efforts. She will be instrumental in spreading the word about our University Medical Center and will help increase the support we receive from our wonderful Northeast Texas community,” UT Health Northeast President Dr. Kirk A. Calhoun said.
Ms. Bondurant has raised more than $6 million for various East Texas organizations, including UT Tyler. She has a background in marketing and nonprofit management as well as fundraising.
“I cannot imagine being given a greater opportunity in life than to raise funds for better education, healthcare, and research,” Ms. Bondurant said. “To be able to promote these life-changing causes on a daily basis is very rewarding. I think I’ve prepared all of my life to be right here in this position.”
She has served as the general director of Opera East Texas and executive director of East Texans Against Lawsuit Abuse.
Other positions Ms. Bondurant has held include marketing director for the Bobby Vinton Theater and the Osmond Family Theater, Branson, Mo.; executive director of America’s Heartland, a tourism marketing consortium for six states; community relations director for Garden Park Community Hospital, Gulfport, Miss.; and public information officer for Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview.
She is a member of Class 22 of Leadership Tyler and was 2009 Rotarian of the Year for South Tyler Rotary. In addition, she currently is co-chair of Dr. Luke’s Dinner, a fundraiser for Bethesda Clinic in Tyler.
Ms. Bondurant has held a graduate assistantship in speech communication at the University of Southern Mississippi and has completed courses at the America’s Hospital Association-Institute of Public Relations Management.
She has a bachelor’s in speech communication from the University of Southern Mississippi.
