U.T. Tyler is one of the many schools getting ready for the mobs of students arriving on campus. Move in starts Thursday, August 21st and goes through the weekend. Staff at the residence life department say the process should take 10-20 minutes.

"When our students and their families arrive, they pull into the parking lot, our volunteers will empty the car for them, then they can go park and our volunteers will go help them get things moved up. so they can empty everything right next to the building, and we can help them get things up to their rooms," said David Hill, Residential Life Director at U.T. Tyler.

Grace Community Church in Tyler is one of a few churches that are sending volunteers to help students move their things in.

Crhis Cullins, a Grace Community Church Pastor, said, "We just want to serve the community, we want to serve these parents that are dropping off their kids for the first time, and making that transition a little bit easier."

Ten to twenty people from the church will work from 8am until 3pm for one of the days. U.T. Tyler approached them 4 years ago to join the move in team.

"There are also numerous churches and organizations that are there and help out too in different halls and apartments that UT Tyler has," said Cullins.

The residence life workers say they are excited to start the new school year.

"When they realize that all of this has been done for them, just the expressions on their faces and knowing that we're able to help them, that is what i look forward to every year," Hill said.
