Valentine's Day scams online users need to look out for

Tyler, TX — The Better Business Bureau reports, scam artists take advantage of every major event or holiday, especially Valentine's Day.
Online users need to be careful when they're trying to find the perfect gift, card or even when meeting people.
Your valentine's day won't be so sweet when you find out that you've been scammed.
The BBB tells KETK about a few scams hopeless romantics need to look out for.
Online shopping is busier than ever right before valentines day.
Many will be browsing the web trying to find the perfect e-card or gift, but before you click and submit the better business bureau warns shoppers.
"If somebody tries to instant message you whether it's on social media or through your email, if you don't know them don't respond, again you don't know who's on the other end," says Mechele Mills, President & CEO, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas.
We all love give- a-ways and deals, but be careful who's offering.
"We want to have a lot of friends on social media but you want to make sure you don't friend everybody that request your friendship," says Mechele Mills, President & CEO, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas.
Reports say, an email from a friend may link you to a free online greeting card and will attempt you to download the card.
"Some of them are fraudulent some of them will have malware on them," says Mechele Mills, President & CEO, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas.
Another new scam, Phishing.
"People are receiving an email saying your flowers can't be delivered, or your gifts can't be delivered," says Mechele Mills, President & CEO, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas.
Mills adds, the emails will ask for your credit card information again or stating the credit information you gave was incorrect, and if you're one...using online dating, the BBB says scammers are using online dating sites to target singles, known as cat-fishing.
