KVNE and KGLY are 2 non-profit Christian radio stations here in East Texas.  Afternoon DJ Jeff Johnson says they're hoping to make Valentine's Day a little more special for kids in the hospital.

They're calling it "Valentines for Kids."

They're inviting schools, churches, families or other children to bring their handmade Valentines to cheer up kids that need a little cheering up.

"It's very easy to say that you love someone or that you care about someone or say that you want to help a child that's in the hospital...but you put feet to your faith when you actually pick up some crayons and markers and make a Valentine for a kid in the hospital," Johnson said.

Even businesses are getting involved.

"All of our staff was very involved in creating the Valentine's cards.  Everyone took part in it, everyone enjoyed it, and it did bring back several childhood memories of creating Valentines for that special Valentine and we just wanted to share that," said Olga Mondragon with the Better Business Bureau.

Angel Hunt is 15.  She says even though a Valentine is not much -- she knows it helps.

"It feels great, I feel like I'm blessing children who really need to know that God loves them and God's there for them and that...they're not going through this alone," Hunt said.

The radio stations are inviting folks to drop off the Valentines by this Sunday -- at any of the collection sites listed on KVNE.com or KGLY.com.
