There are several events in East Texas celebrating Veteran's Day. Here are a few of those:

1. The Historic Aviation Museum at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport is offering free admission to for veterans this month. A program on WWI starts at 1:00 p.m. and it covers trench warfare, the air war escadrilles, the Red Baron and General Blackjack Pershing.

Also, there will be a ceremony honoring the Korean War veterans Thursday. The event starts at 1:00 p.m. It will be held at the Senior Citizens Center on Garden Valley Road in Tyler.


2. Several East Texas schools will be holding a program at their respective school to honor veteran's Thursday.

---Bell Elementary School's program is Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 in the school cafeteria. Students will be singing patriotic songs and share essays they wrote honoring their veterans.

---Griffin Elementary's program will be Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 in the school gym.

---Brook Hill Middle and Upper School Chapel will honor their veterans as well.

---Bishop T.K. Gorman Regional Catholic School will celebrate veteran's day Thursday at 9:50 this morning.

---Lindale ISD is set to honor Veteran's Day Thursday and Friday.

---Students at Velma Penny Elementary will serve lunch to WWII veterans who were recently flown to Washington D.C., as part of the brookshire's "World War II Heroes Flight" program. Lunch will be begin at 12:00 p.m. and veterans will address different classes and share their experiences from the war afterward.

---Lindale Primary School will recognize veterans at 8:30 a.m. this morning with a ceremony. LISD School Board President and Brigadier General James "Red" Brown will be the guest speaker.

---Wills Point High School will present a salute to the veterans by performing a 1940's USO show at the Hollywood Canteen. The event is Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and then at 2:30 on Sunday. Ten percent of all ticket sales will go to the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial. Volunteers are needs to staff the selling of bricks, ball caps and other veterans memorial items.

---Robert E. Lee High School is hosting a concert Thursday eveing at 6:00 in the Fine Arts Center. Tthe concert is free and public is invited to attend.

3. Local actors in Longview will tell the story of "Seven World War II Vets" at the nursing home. The actors have written about their lives and will read them during a 45 minute performance to honor the veterans. It will detail their experiences before, during and after the war. That all takes place Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the West Minister Place in Longview.
