It has been a week since an explosion blasted through a fertilizer plant in West, Texas.

Wednesday morning, CNN got an up close look at the damage.

The lethal blast left a nearly 100 feet wide and 10 feet deep crater where the plant once stood.

The blast destroyed dozens of homes and damaged several buildings in the small Central Texas town.

Many questions still remain.

How did a fire start in a facility shut down to workers for the day and what sparked the massive explosion?

Investigators are sifting through the rubble to answer those questions.

So far, they're only sure natural causes did not ignite the fire.
