Bullard High School students could soon be getting the chance to turn their love for video games, into training toward a new career.

If enough students are interested, Bullard High will have a course this fall devoted to game design.

Business and Tech teacher Sheila Sims says she has been giving her students a taste of what the course will be like, such as learning how to code 3D graphics and textures.

Sims says technology has rapidly changed since she has been an instructor, and says her students are excited to jump in and experience new lessons.

She says by mixing their passion with tools and knowledge of the gaming industry, these students will be better equipped to jump into the ultra competitive and lucrative industry of video games.

"The kids will receive hands on training with programming and they'll actually do design and 3D graphics in video games design, and they'll actually know the importance of programming and actually be able to gain experience with jobs," said Sims.

A decision about the class has yet to be made, but Sims is confident the students' excitement for the course will be sufficient.
