Dallas — The Dallas Mavericks are early in a seven- or nine-day wait for the start of the Western Conference finals.
That's nothing for coach Rick Carlisle.
He once went 11 days between series.
It was 2004 and Carlisle was coaching the Pacers. They swept the Celtics on a Sunday, then had to sit around until a week from that Thursday before playing the Heat. The Pacers won the series.
After giving the Mavericks a full day off Monday, Carlisle held a voluntary workout Tuesday. The whole club will be in Wednesday.
Dallas will host Game 1 of the conference finals Sunday or Tuesday, depending on when the Grizzlies-Thunder series ends.
They are tied at 2 going into Game 5 on Wednesday night.
