The kicked up sand from your feet would scare the shark away
Galveston, TX — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; Galveston Island Beach Patrol says the key to avoiding sharks is shuffling instead of walking in shallow water and whatever you do, stay away from schooling fish.
That's after a 14-year-old Mikaela Amezaga from Bellaire received her very own shark bite, right out of her back, when she was swimming off the Island Saturday evening.
"Shuffle your feet so the shark can see you coming," said Peter Davis from Galveston Island Beach Patrol. The kicked up sand from your feet would scare the shark away, he said. Shuffling is also known to alert sting rays and flat fish.
