Water coming out of gas pumps in North Tyler

Although we did need the rain, Friday's flash flooding caused water to fill up parks and roads all over East Texas.

And water even made it's way into some gas tanks and customers were not happy.

For the people who pumped gas at A&W Grocery in Tyler Saturday morning, what should've been a quick stop, turned into a nightmare.

"Frustrated, disappointed and angry."

"It's awful, pitiful, terrible."

"It's not fair."

Friday night a valve leading to the gas tanks was left open.

"It was open from last night and police are investigating to see who did it."

Making it easy for the rain we saw Friday to make it's way into the gas supply.

And while the new mixture consisted of about only five percent gas no one knew.

"It made me feel really bad you know, because I didn't know the water was in the gas. But I still sold it to them. I should have paid more attention to the water. Right when the first car came we should have shut everything down."

It wasn't until someone took their car to the mechanic that they found out the gas really wasn't gas.

"He said it was five percent gas. He filled his whole tank up with water."

So from 5:00 to 8:30 a.m., which is when the manager was notified of what was happening, whoever stopped to get gas, filled their tank with water.

And the fix isn't easy or quick.

The tank needs to be removed, emptied, cleaned, and refilled.

A&W Grocery is footing all bills associated with the damage.

"Of course. Whatever damage happened to the car he's taking care of it."

But for some -- that's not enough.

The cost may be nothing, but the time they lost is everything.

From missing work to a dear friend's funeral, the people who spent their Saturday morning dealing with car troubles say nothing can make this right.

"The bad thing is you come to get gas to go do something. My mom was on her way to a funeral."

"I thought I would get my gas and go about my business, but it didn't happen that way. I need to take my medicine, I haven't had anything to eat yet, I've been here about three hours."

"It's the only car we have to drive and i need it for my job."
