Tyler, TX — Wednesday night's debate was the first of three for President Barack Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney.
The debate was over important topics regarding our economy.
We asked fifteen people on the street, nine people said Mitt Romney and one person said President Obama and five people said they weren't able to watch.
There was much speculation over how the first debate would turn out, between President Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney.
We also spoke with the local Republican and Democratic parties in Smith County to find out their thoughts.
Republican party chair, Aston Oravetz said, "I think Romney won by a margin, he really did a huge take on Obama."
Whereas, Democratic party chairman said, "I walked away sort of scratching my head, I don't think the president lost, so it probably wont change at any rate immediately in the polls so I would call the debate a close win for the president."
However, between news headlines, social media, and local East Texans it was almost unanimous as to who they thought won.
Most people said former Governor Mitt Romney.
Many said the GOP presidential candidate cleared up vital points about tax cuts and was full of energy that they found contagious.
But, one East Texan we spoke to felt differently.
He said, "I think President Obama won, as the sitting president, his work was shown."
As for the majority, people we spoke with noticed the undeniable body language.
One Facebook user said, "Romney won, very simple. My grandfather always told me never trust a man that doesn't look you in the eyes. Obama was always looking down or around...never straight ahead. Romney however would look the TV audience in the eyes."
The next presidential debate takes place on October 16th.
