Weather knocks out power in East Texas

TYLER— Severe weather leaves many people without power today.

Swepco reported 19,000 homes without power in Longview this morning. By afternoon, 8400 homes were still in the dark.

Oncor officials in Smith County reported 9,000 homes without power around 8:30 a.m. At 3 p.m., 4,100 homes were still without power.

Officials say about 1,000 of those outages were in Jacksonville, and the remainder in the Tyler-Whitehouse area
