WEATHER WATCH: Flooding possible in multiple ETX counties

According to the National Weather Service, a flash flood watch has been issued for the following counties:

  • Cherokee
     
  • Upshur
     
  • Camp
     
  • Rusk
     
  • Franklin
     
  • Panola
     
  • Marion
     
  • Morris
     
  • Wood
     
  • Cass
     
  • Smith
     
  • Gregg
     
  • Harrison
     
  • Titus
     
  • Hopkins
     
  • Rains
     
  • Anderson
     
  • Van Zandt

The advisory has been issued from Wednesday from 4:00 p.m., through Thursday at 12:00 p.m. The storm is detailed as a strong, upper-level disturbance and is reported to produce heavy rainfall to East Texas, Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. Widespread rainfall of two to five inches is expected with localized higher amounts of six inches.

KETK would like to remind drivers to use extra caution in inclement weather. In heavy downpours, flash flooding of lower lying and poor drainage areas and at low crossings is possible. Some roads may be affected near adjacent streams and creeks that overflow the banks.
