Blippo the Hippo: Honorary Vintner

Abacela Winery, Oregon — Its not voo-doo, its zoo-doo!
An award-winning winery, next door to a wildlife safari, has turned into a happy accident for both the vineyard and the zoo.
Abacela donates straw from an old hay field to the zoo, and in return, gets a load of "fertilizer" for its vineyard.
A 30 year old hippo with a toothy grin named Blippo, produces an excellent compost booster.
The wildlife preserve mixes the dung with leftover animal bedding made from straw, lets the pile get hot, turning it repeatedly to produce the nutrient rich "zoo doo compost."
Abacela is the only major vineyard that fertilizes its vines with the help of hippos.
Gardeners can pay $60 to fill the bed of a pickup truck with zoo doo.
