Dallas (KDAF) — Cops pulled Robert Dupree over in The Colony for failing to signal… no big deal, right? But when they ran his license, it turned out this guy apparently owes $56,000 in unpaid tolls.
You heard that right, $56,000. And the North Texas Tollway Authority says there is no way this happened by accident.
"We're talking about someone who would have gotten a number of invoices; he has more than 2,000 tolls," says NTTA spokesman Michael Rey. "It would appear that he's the type of person who just decides that they are not going to pay any tolls."
Here's a warning: When you run through tolls that many times, a warrant is sent out for your arrest.
Right now, the guy on the NTTA's "Most Wanted List" is Ronnie Williams, who owes over $200,000. But Dupree is among the NTTA's worst offenders.
"He`s a lot closer to the top than the bottom," says Rey.
Dupree did come up with the money to post bond. KDAF went to his last known address to ask how he managed to rack up this many tolls. The woman who lives there said she was his mother, but told KDAF through the closed door her son has moved out.
"I haven`t seen him in weeks," she said.
