King calls it quits at emergency Board meeting...
The West Rusk Consolidated Independent School District has had it’s share of staff problems over the last few years.
In 2006, 3 employees were suspended for sexually explicit e-mails.
The next year, Superintendent Steve Jones and two coaches resigned in the wake of a scandal involving misappropriation of school funds and property.
Now, Superintendent Mike King has handed in his resignation. It happened at an emergency board meeting that was held this afternoon at 3:30.
The attorney for the district John Hardy, offices in Tyler. We called 5 times this week trying to get a statement. None of those calls were returned. But, teachers have been contacting KETK about the situation involving King for several weeks.
The emails we’ve been getting involve inappropriate relationships and possible business improprieties.
KETK has learned that another employee, Curriculum Director Michelle Cline, had been told to appear at the meeting, but did not.
We can confirm that King and Cline, were in Austin together in April while he testified for an education bill. But the bill in question had nothing to do with issues involving her department.
Sources tell KETK that the board agreed to pay King's salary to the end of the year. But the resignation takes effect immediately.
