East Texan gets national priase
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Sophomore receiver Gralyn Crawford’s performance Saturday against Albany is gaining national attention. Crawford has been named a 2010 D-I FCS Performer of the Week for returning a punt and kickoff back for touchdowns.
Crawford gave SFA an early 6-0 lead when he took the game’s opening kickoff and returned in 92 yards for a touchdown. The return, which took only 11 seconds off the clock, was the ninth-longest return in school history. It marked the first time since the 1996 season that SFA had returned the game’s opening kick off back for a touchdown.
In the second half, Crawford again added his named to the SFA record books when he returned a punt 72 yards for a score. The 72-yard return was the seventh longest in school history. He finished the game with 233 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.
The Lumberjacks return to action Saturday when they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to take on No. 13 Northern Iowa. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:05 p.m. from the UNI Dome.
