Eric Swanson is the newest member of the White Oak ISD school board.
White Oak Superintendent Mike Gilbert said trustees appointed Swanson to fill the one-year unexpired term of Todd Weeks, who resigned in June so his nephew could be hired as a teacher and coach.
The school district has a nepotism policy and Weeks resigned to prevent a conflict for his nephew.
Swanson, who works as a land manager for R. Lacy Services, is a 20-year resident of the school district. His daughter Samantha graduated from White Oak High School in 2006; daughter Mary Morgan, graduated in 2008; and daughter Dorothy is going to be a senior this year.
