Why Do You Think Church Attendance is Down?

1 in 33 women claim to have been victims of sexual misconduct by clergy at their church.
Is this the reason church attendance is down?
CATHOLIC CHURCH ATTENDANCE IS DOWN BECAUSE OF A COUPLE OF THINGS ... ONBE IS THE CLERGY SEXUAL ABUSE SCANDLES AND THEIR GROSS MISHANDLING .... THE OTHER IS THEIR INABILITY TO INCORPORATE TODAY IN TO THE LITURGY .....
FIRST THE SCANDLE IT IS STILL RAGING LOOK AT IRELAND ...NOW GERMANY AND THE REST OF EUROPE IT IS RAGING AND EVEN THOUGH THE POPE IS BEATING HIS BREAST OVER IT NOTHING IS BEING DONE .... THE KEEP SAYING CELIBACY IS NOT THE CAUSE ...THAT IS A BUNCH OF BS TO BE QUITE BLUNT ....EARLY ENTRY INTO THE SEMINARY AND CELIBACY DOES NOT ALLOW THE INDIVUDUAL TO REACH SEXUAL MATURITY IN A NORMAL MANNER .... AND THIS IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF SOME OF IT ... THE OTHER CONTRIBUTER IS THAT A HUGE PORTION OF THE CLERGY IS GAY ... THE SEMINARIES TODAY ARE CLOSE TO 50% GAY ... THE CHURCH SAYS IT IS OK AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT ACTIVE ... WELL WE HAVE THE FOX GAURDING THE CHICKEN COOP .... WE KNOW THAT ALL GAY MEN ARE NOT PEDOPHILES BUT WE ALSO KNOW THAT ALL MALE PEDOPHILES ARE ALSO GAY .... SO ONE WAY TO HELP ELEINAMTE THAT ASPECT IS KEEP THE GAYS OUT OF THE SEMINARIES ... I KNOW PERSONALLY SEVERAL STRAIGHT MEN WHO ENTERED THE SEMINARY TO BE COME A PRIEST AND QUICKLY LEFT WHEN HE DISCOVERED IT WAS A HOT BED OF FRUSTRATED GAY MEN ....IF THEY ARE FOUND TO BE ABUSING ANY OF THE PARISHONERS .... PUBLICLY PROSECUTE THEM ... REMOVE FROM THE CLERGY AND NEVER LET THEM BACK ... WE ARE STILL SHELTERING ....GIVING TREATMENT AND MOVING TO NEW LOCATIONS ... THIS HAS TO STOP .....
DO AWAY WILL CELABACY ... IT IS STUPID .... KEEP GAYS OUT OF THE CLERGY .... AND IT WILL GO A LONG WAY TOWARDS CLEANING UP THE WHOLE MESS .....
ALSO THE INABILTY TO RELATE ... BOILS DOWN TO THIS ....EACH BISHOP ISSUES GUIDELINES ON WHAT THE WEEKLY HOMILIES WILL BE AT MASS ... THEY MUST INVILVE THE WEEKLY READING IN THE MASS THE EPISTLES AND THE GOSPELS .... SO THIS KEEPS THE HOMILY LIMITED TO A BIBLIVAL BENT .... NOW ANY GOOD SPEAKER CAN DO THIS AND THEN SUQUAY TO SOME RELAVENT IN TODAYS WORLD .... WORD OF THID GETS TO THE BISHOP AND THE PASTER IS IN HOT WATER AND THE PRIST WEIKL BE SENT TO THE COUNTRY SOMEWHERE ...
LET THEM SPEAK ON WHAT NEEDS TO BE ADRESSED AND GOD FORBID IF IS IT IS ABOUT THE CHURCH SCANDLES .....

5 months agoI'll tell you one big reason. When's the last time you been to a big church. Big or small it doesn't matter really. The main difference with big if you look at it mathmaticaly, bigger equals more of certain types of cliques. Sometimes they make you feel like you dont fit in. Comb in to Sunday school with your cell phone hanging off your belt. Cmon. If your that important. More than a couple of hours more important than God. Then you can take that up with him. Put it in your pocket. On vibrate. And the very instant. Within a twinkling of the eye. You better have pushed the silent button the moment you feel the vibes. If you don't know how to do that, then you didn't read your manual.
The next major thing. Cmon ladies. I know your fine and all. But cmon. How am I possibly supposed to concentrate on the singing. The sermon. When your boosoms are in my face. When I can see yor tramp stamp. Oh yeah it's sexy. But there is a time and a place. It should be with my wife not you that I am thinking about. Moms are just as bad. Looking all sexy at church. Shame on you. Cover yourself. You can look so beautiful without having to be sexy. Save that for your husband. Or future husband.
Guys too. And you know what preachers, teachers, parents. It's about time you stood up and took charge of your flock.
How am I supposed to take charge of mine when some churches are full of this. How am I supposed to tell my 4 boys to keep their virginity when I'm drooling at the same time. Please. We all need to be in church! But for the right reason.
If you have to ask me what reason that is. Then you belong in a third world country. Check your heritage. Go back. Wait for us to come to you and show you the way. Don't come here and change my freedom.

6 months agoI dont think its sexual misconduct. but if everyone would get back into church and beleive in GOD our world would not be in the situation it is in today.

6 months agothe churches are full of hypocrites and trisha is correct that it is a social club and if you do not belong to the group then you are ignored. the preachers are not preaching the bible anymore because they want to be politicaly correct or their members might get their feelings hurt and leave. the church would then loose MONEY !

6 months agoATTENDANCE DOWN?NOT AT THE CHURCH I GO TO.I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT GROW SO FAST IN MY LIFE.PEOPLE SEE THAT JESUS IS FIXING TO RETURN TO GATHER HIS PEOPLE.WE ARE IN THE VERY VERY LAST DAYS AND PEOPLE NEED TO BE READY.I KNEW THIS DAY WOULD COME WHEN PEOPLE ARE SCARED AND OUT OF WORK WITH NO MONEY AND LOOSEING THERE HOMES.THERE IS ONLY ON SPRIT THAT CAN HELP THEM AND THAT IS THE ALL MIGHTY GOD.PEOPLE WILL SOON BE YELLING FOR GOD TO HELP THEM.ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS JUST TURN YOUR LIFE OVER TO HIM AND STOP ASKING WHY HE LETS BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO PEOPLE.HE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS AND WILL SOME DAY EXPLAIN IT TO US WHO FOLLOW HIM. 6 months agoAttendance is down because Religion is becoming less relevant in our society. It used to be that God, Family, and Country were our priorities. Judging from our behaviors our priorities are now: Me, Me, and Me. God and politics have become intertwined to the point where religion has become secularized. It is very difficult to remain a believer when we are bombarded by messages that faith is a quaint old fashioned idea or nonsensical. I see young parents too busy indoctrinating their children into the sports culture rather than committing to faith formation. Which will serve their children longer?

6 months agoI believe church attendance is falling off because of a number of reasons:
1 Preachers who do not know the scriptures.
2 The incredible pettiness that goes on in the so-called church.
3 Because of gross indecency among catholic leaders.
4 Because of affluence and self will.
5 Divisions in "THE" church - there is only ONE created by Christ Himself.
6 Because of the higher education system that tends to dismiss christians as stupid or niave.
7 Because most people do not give a dam these days.
8 Because of idiot preachers who claim to do miracles who are nothing but fools.
9 Because of con artists who try to get rich through ministry.
But even with those reasons, there is no excuse for not serving God Himself.

6 months agoWhat makes you think church attendance is down. How many churches did you contact? Was the fact that summer vacations affect attendance taken in consideration when the pole was taken?
