Wildfire threatens homes in North Texas community
POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE, Texas — (AP) - A fast-moving 3,000-acre wildfire has prompted evacuations for dozens of residents in a North Texas lakeside community.
The Texas Forest Service says about 50 homes are threatened in the Possum Kingdom Lake area Tuesday afternoon.
Huge plumes of thick gray smoke can be seen for miles away.
Part of a state highway is closed in the area.
It's the same community where some 160 homes were destroyed in an April wildfire that burned in three counties for two weeks.
Authorities say Tuesday's fire has already spread to about 3,000 acres in Palo Pinto County near the lake. It's about 75 miles west of Fort Worth.
