Willie Nelson band members involved in early morning bus crash
Hopkins County, Texas (KETK) — Three Willie Nelson band members were taken to a hospital early this morning after their bus crashed into an overpass.
It happened at 3:30 a.m., Trooper Jennings in Texarkana tells KETK, the bus was driving west bound on Interstate 30 when the driver crashed into a column on an overpass on mile marker 122 in Hopkins County near Sulphur Springs.
The bus driver reports that he was having a hard time driving the bus in the heavy rain and high winds when he lost control of the vehicle and hit an overpass column.
The bus had six people on it, five band members and the driver, three of the band members suffered injuries.
Robert Paul English sustained serious but not life threatening injuries after he broke his hip.
Two other band members, Billy Gene English and Thomas Ray Hawkins, suffered from minor injuries.
TxDOT officials say the bus sustained severe damage but the bridge was fine.
All injured band members were taken to a local hospital for their injuries, it is not known at this time if they have been released.
