The 102-year-old building on Fredonia Street at Bank Alley housing the Gregg County Historical Museum is getting a much-needed renovation.

Neina Kennedy, executive director of the museum, said workers have been busy cleaning and repairing the structure’s windows as part of a renovation that could top $70,000.

While part of the work is funded by a Longview Main Street Grant, the museum is in the middle of a capital campaign to raise funds to complete the project.

Due to the deterioration of windows and the front steps, the basement of the former bank building has water damage that resulted in closing off parts of the basement and storage areas.
