Wine Industry doing well in Texas
July 11, 2009 - 5:49pm
BULLARD - Kiepersol Estates Bushman's Winery and Celebration Center hosted a service Saturday to honor veterans.
East Texans both young and old came out to show their appreciation to those who risked their lives to protect our country.
The main event was Congressman Louie Gohmert's presentation on remembering our freedom.
KE Bushman's Winery and Celebration Center's grand opening is Saturday night.
Though Kiepersol dedicated the day to veterans, most other days are dedicated to wine, and Kiepersol is a big player in the Texas wine industry.
Though the recession has hurt just about every industry, Texas wineries like Kiepersol have been able to weather the storm.
"We've seen a little bit of a slowdown but nothing significant," wine maker, Marnell Durrett, says.
"I feel like were helping move the industry in the right direction, in terms of site were one of the top wineries out of 178 wineries in the state right now," Ms. Durrett continues.
