Winona murder suspect gets new lawyer
A Winona man awaiting trial on a charge of murder was given a new lawyer Wednesday.
Alejandro Garcia, 22, requested Friday to replace the attorney of record on his case, Thomas P. Tibiletti, with Gilmer attorney Tim Cone.
Garcia was arrested in December in connection with the death of 19-year-old Andres Chavez, whose body police found in the 1100 block of Sabine Street, near the Whistlestop Mobile Home Park.
According to an autopsy, Chavez, of Longview, died due to “blunt trauma to the head and sharp force injuries to the neck.”
