NACOGDOCHES - Nacogdoches Police are investigating a fatal auto crash that occurred shortly before 6:00 am today. The crash occurred in the 1100 block of SE Stallings Drive (Loop 224), near the intersection of Press Road.

A 1993 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Jim Risinger, 69 of Lufkin was eastbound on Stallings Drive and left the roadway on the right, striking a culvert. The vehicle then went airborne, travelling some 75 feet and struck a sign pole in the parking lot of Chicken Express. Mr. Risinger and a passenger (his wife), Carolyn Burke Risinger, age 67, were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

Carolyn Risinger was pronounced dead at the Emergency Department shortly after arrival. Mr. Risinger was being treated at the time of this report.
