Wood County man arrested in Wednesday shooting

Release from Wood County — One person is in custody after a man allegedly shot his brother in Wood County.
Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting in the Holly Lake Ranch area on Wednesday at approximately 9:05 p.m.
Deputies arrived at 651 Holly Trail East #201-Q and located the victim, Tommy Winkle, 55 years of age, at a neighbor’s residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Tommy Winkle was alert and was transported to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital with life threatening injuries. Deputies made contact with the victim’s brother, Arvis Winkle, 56 years of age, who is also the suspect in the shooting.
Arvis Winkle was placed in custody and later transported to the Wood County Detention Facility where he was booked for the first degree felony offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Family Violence. A Protective Order was also obtained against Arvis Winkle in case he is released on bond.
Arvis Winkle currently is incarcerated under a $50,000.00 bond. The case is ongoing at this time.
