(KETK) — Today marks World Cancer Day. A day to raise awareness and educate on preventative measures.
Texans will make up 15% of new cases diagnosed in the United States this year.
Doctors recommend:
• Quit Smoking – 80% of lung cancer mortalities are smoking related.
• Get Check-ups and Screenings – Screenings can detect cancers at their earliest and most treatable stages.
• Eat Right & Stay Active - An estimated 25 to 30 percent of several major cancers, including colon, postmenopausal breast, endometrial, kidney, and esophageal cancers, are associated with obesity and lack of physical activity.
• Save Your Skin – Avoid improper exposure to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.
