On Monday, friends and family of Elmer E. Hill celebrated his 106th birthday at an assisted living facility in Henderson.

Hill is one of the longest surviving World War 2 veterans.  He served in the war as apart of the U.S. Navy.

But Hill was also a school principal after his time overseas, and many of his former students, some driving in from Houston, came to see him on his big day.

But to Hill, he didn't see it as such an accomplishment, he tells KETK that turning over 100 is easy, you just have to sit down and do it.

But on Monday, he was surrounded by a number of people, who were that he has been able to accomplish such an easy task.
